Why we’re here and how we can help

We are the Big Green Ideas List.

Our aim is to inspire people to make environmentally conscious choices across all areas of their lives – not just in their personal lives, but also in the decisions they make at work, who they vote for, and how they influence other people.

Urgent change is needed, but not enough is being done

In October 2018, the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change warned that we had only 12 years to avoid catastrophic climate breakdown. Any increase over 1.5 degrees C will significantly worsen the risks of drought, floods, extreme heat, and poverty and cause catastrophic damage to the systems on which we rely for our global food supply.

In 2023, they warned us that we’re not doing enough, and we’re not doing it fast enough. There is still hope, but urgent and unprecedented change is needed to limit the damage and make the lives of future generations tolerable.

Yet our politicians and business leaders aren’t acting quickly enough – which means it’s up to us.

  • Millions of individuals deciding to put climate change at the centre of every decision they make
  • Millions of individuals joining together to create a positive force that politicians and businesses can’t ignore
  • Millions of individuals joining groups to push for meaningful, urgent change

So we created the Big Green Ideas List.
